Rohit Sharma supports contemporary great Keeping quiet regarding his batting order, Virat Kohli

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, expressed optimism that Virat Kohli would overcome his difficulties outside of the off-stump in the fourth test match between Australia and India. To further fuel conjecture, the captain chose not to disclose his batting position for the Boxing Day Test.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, spoke at the news conference on Melbourne’s Christmas Eve in a light-hearted manner. At his most distinctive, Rohit enthusiastically answered reporters’ queries about his form and the team’s preparations for the highly anticipated Boxing Day Test.

Rohit Sharma responded, “You only said he is a modern-day great,” when asked if he had discussed his much-publicised vulnerability with deliveries outside the off-stump with Virat Kohli. Great people of today will find their way or the route (to overcome challenges).

As his long-time teammate has had to resist the urge to prod deliveries in the uncertain corridor outside the off-stump, the Indian skipper showed his undying support for him. In the first Test match in Perth, Kohli struck a century in the second innings, but he has since been repeatedly caught in Australia’s off-side trap.

Kohli’s scores in the first three tests were 5, 100 not out, 7, 11, and 3. The former Indian skipper has been lured into playing at deliveries outside the off-stump by Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, who have taken advantage of his weakness. During the tour of South Africa last year, Kohli demonstrated better discipline in this area; nevertheless, he now seems more vulnerable during the current series in Australia.

ROHIT TIGHT-LIPPED ON HIS BATTING SPOT

Rohit Sharma, however, dismissed worries about his own performance, saying that he has been practicing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground by concentrating on the fundamentals.

After overcoming a knee injury scare, Rohit confirmed he is fully fit to play in the Boxing Day Test. However, he did not comment on his batting position in the starting lineup.

Rohit gave up the opening position to make room for KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, and he has been batting at No. 6 ever since arriving in Australia. In Perth, the new opening duo performed well without Rohit. Rohit hasn’t, however, contributed much thus far from the No. 6 spot.

“We shouldn’t be concerned about that. “Who bats where?” is something we must, in my opinion, determine for ourselves. I shouldn’t be talking about it at every news conference. “We will do whatever it takes to make our team look good or give them the best chance to succeed,” Rohit stated.

KL Rahul, who was chosen for a middle-order position, has performed admirably throughout the series, amassing 235 runs, including two fifty-runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who struck 161 in Perth, has had trouble in Adelaide and Melbourne against the new ball.

Rohit responded to criticism of younger players like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi by saying: “You see, as I told you, all these youngsters – Rishabh, Gill, Jaiswal, all these youngsters are in the same boat.” We don’t want their actions to become more complicated. They are aware of what is expected of them.

“It’s our responsibility to continuously bringing up topics like match awareness with them. We don’t need to complicate things and teach them more,” he continued.

With the series level at 1-1, India will aim to put pressure on Australia in the iconic Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
