Last night at the Estadio Mestalla, Jude Bellingham scored a late goal following a controversial penalty incident to lead a 10-man Real Madrid to a comeback 2-1 victory over Valencia, marking their ascent to La Liga summit in the process.
Jude Bellingham, It was a tough match, with Huro Duro putting the home team in the lead before Luka Modric equalized for the visitors. With stoppage time approaching and the match tied at one goal each, Jude Bellingham found the opportunity and scored to take Real Madrid on the top of the table. In the 78th minute of the game, Vinicius was given his marching orders after tussling with Valencia fans, who had racially insulted him in a previous match, and pushed their goalkeeper in the neck.
Jude Bellingham assisted veteran midfielder Modric in the 85th minute which allowed them to draw the game and start a remarkable comeback for the Madrid team who were losing at that point.
With a game in hand over Diego Simeone’s team, this put Madrid two points ahead of Atletico Madrid at the top of the standings as Jude Bellingham scored off a defensive error from Valencia in the 96th minute.
“Jude Bellingham put up an outstanding performance and even after missing a Penalty kick he didn’t give up, this in fact helped him,” Ancelotti said.
Ancelotti went ahead saying ‘scoring writes the perfect tale for his efforts’ but He made exceptional sacrifices and the fact that he could put it behind him and score only motivates the player more.
Ancelotti went ahead saying that he did not feel that Vinicius push warranted a red card, also he didn’t expect their team to start the match as poorly.
We never believed it was a red card, he went in then the team responded to the red, the neglected kick. The fact that we performed so poorly in the first half and so well in the second half is so hard to understand.
“We can only show one side and this one was definitely deserved, but it is what it is,” the manager told the press.
Earlier in the year Valencia faced Real Madrid and were unable to play due to the climate displacement that was occurring in the eastern region of Spain.
Carlos Corberan took over Valencia after the year progressed to further the developments of the team taking the coach from West Bromwich Albion in the league championship of England as they finished the season in the bottom position.
Valencia managed to compose themselves and give a strong performance preventing Madrid from attacking them and even managing to score one after 27 minutes of the game.
Dimitri Foulquier cleverly played a cross to Javi Guerra forcing the very efficient keeper Thibaut Courtois to make a save, however it fell to Duro and he was able to easily score.
Although this scored thanks to his team’s effort there were other matches where he was silent throughout the first half and score grabbing goals afterward.
In the second half after a quick pass to Mbappe casued him to be brought down and awarded a penalty.
Jude Bellingham made an attempt to score but ended up hitting the post because he managed to jump and land on the ball.
The officials failed to spot that whilst the penalty was taken, Valencia’s keeper Stole Dimitrievski was not behind his line which refer notices revealed these.
Before Christmas, there were two instances when Mbappe missed penalties while playing against Madrid. He had all but scored his side’s equalizer against Madrid when he rounded Dimitrievski and hit it into the net but he was flagged offside by the Nexo officials bout inches,” Mbappe said after the match.
Things took a dramatic turn during the game when Vinicius injured Valencia’s goalkeeper with a push following which Valencia shoved him back and earned a red card hence taking the numbers down to 10 players.
They were a goal down but due to Jude Bellingham’s brilliance their deficit did not last more than a few minutes as he assisted a goal to the former Real Madrid’s Modric who enjoyed a comfortable easy strike.
It was Foulquier’s inaccurate pass that put Guillamon in a tough spot and with that created the opportunity to win the match where Jude Bellingham smashed into the goal finishing a back pass from his teammate.
This was his sixth goal while playing in any of the seven matches during the Europe league. For the second time, Jude Bellingham was able to score owing to the fact that it would be his last year’s season performance.
Vinicius goes on to say, “Sorry and thanks team,” with regard to his colleagues covering up his embarrassment. After all, there is only so much one can say
The 100th minute came and went, with Luis Rioja of Valencia trying a long range shot, but it tipped the post on the goal, close he was to giving his team a much needed draw.
They have not been counting three points in La Liga since November and now they are four more points away from survival.
For Duro, the scorer of the goal, it was just disappointing as he commented later, “I don’t care, what is the use of scoring, the main point of the game was three points and we actually lost the match.”
“But in that case, I hope I don’t score a single goal in the remaining of the matches, but we win ever single match 1-0 and it goes in an own goal.”
